Past
Employment

My passion for health care and wellness started when I was a teenager working at Ken-Val Rehab & Sports Injury Centre as a Physiotherapist Assistant. It has always been a dream of mine to work in a Health Care field. After having experienced watching my mother go through breast-cancer treatment in 2003 in the hospital setting, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that helped  patients and their families in hospital. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (2008) and a Bachelor of Health Science in Nuclear Medicine (2011) I reached this goal but wanted to ensure my life was lead in one of service. I have worked with Medical Students as a Patient Simulator at the Dalhousie Medical School, and as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at the George Dumont Hospital, in Moncton, NB. This diverse experience in healthcare has taught me how to deal with patients, families, and staff in a courteous, compassionate and respectful manner. I was honored to serve as the Patient Representative in Horizon Health Network (Horizon) for eight years and later as a Primary Health Care Manager, but I want to further my passion for management, leadership, and engagement as the Clinical Director of Oncology and Ambulatory Care (my current role). Oncology and cancer care is my primary interests and I'm grateful to find humility in every moment while serving in this Director role.

I have gained skills of leadership, as taught in the Horizon LEADs program, Horizon supervisory program, and in the Leading One Horizon (LOH) program. I have collaborated with key stakeholders in resolving complex complaints or cases, and recognized in these experiences that my true job is to be compassionate. Throughout my professional journey I have taken the initiative to ensure the patients and their families voice was integrated into their care, alongside listening to the concerns of staff and employees. These are skills I have learned as a facilitator for Cleveland Clinic “Communicate with HEART” program Horizon model, teaching staff to lead with humility and kindness.

Over my past 13 years working in health care, I have watched health care evolve to a more patient-centred model and treating ever person as per their values and with autonomy. Employee engagement and management is also the driving force behind these models, and as a performance driven employee I yearn to grow with this evolution. Horizon's vision aims to capture the essence of “Exceptional Care, Every Person, Every Day”. I will continue to do so by placing our patients, clients, and staff at the center of our health delivery system.
